Record Net Sales

Toei Animation KK reported record net sales for the first quarter ended June 30, 2024, reaching ¥23,059 million. This represents a 16.0% increase compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year. The strong performance was driven by robust domestic and overseas streaming rights sales, particularly for titles like "SLAM DUNK" and "ONE PIECE."

Significant Profit Growth

The company saw a significant increase in operating profit, which rose to ¥6,684 million, marking a 219.0% year-on-year growth. This surge was attributed to the high profitability of streaming rights sales and licensing, as well as the dissipation of evaluation losses from the previous fiscal year.

Strong Licensing Business

Toei Animation KK's licensing business also performed well, with revenues increasing by 14.2% year-on-year to ¥11,184 million. The growth was driven by strong sales of overseas merchandising rights for "ONE PIECE" and the "DIGIMON" series, as well as domestic gaming rights for the "DRAGON BALL" series.

Net Profit Increase

The company reported a net profit of ¥5,306 million for the first quarter, a 70.0% increase compared to the same period last year. This growth was supported by the strong performance in streaming rights sales and licensing, along with the positive impact of the yen's depreciation.
