Revenue Decline Amid Tough Market Conditions

In Q1 2025, Jenoptik AG generated revenue of 243.6 million euros, representing a 4.9% decrease from the 256.1 million euros recorded in the same period last year. While the Americas saw revenue growth, Germany, the rest of Europe, and the Asia/Pacific regions experienced declines.

Earnings Impacted by Lower Revenue and Product Mix

The group's EBITDA fell to 36.2 million euros, an 18.6% year-on-year decrease. EBIT declined significantly to 16.9 million euros, and earnings after tax dropped to 9.2 million euros from 15.4 million euros. The EBITDA margin also decreased to 14.9% from 17.4% in the prior year.

Order Intake Decreased but Backlog Remains Strong

Order intake for the first quarter was 204.6 million euros, down from 242.0 million euros last year. Despite the decrease, the order backlog at the end of Q1 stood at 622.2 million euros, indicating ongoing demand in key sectors.

Financial Position Remains Solid

Jenoptik AG maintained a strong financial position with a free cash flow before interest and taxes of 28.9 million euros, up from 19.5 million euros. The equity ratio improved to 57.7%, and net debt decreased to 382.2 million euros, keeping the leverage ratio steady at 1.8x.

Outlook for Fiscal Year 2025 Confirmed

The company reaffirmed its 2025 guidance, expecting revenue to remain roughly at the prior-year level within a ±5% range. Jenoptik AG anticipates an EBITDA margin between 18.0% and 21.0%, with expectations of a demand rebound in the semiconductor equipment industry during the second half of the year.
