Sales Performance

Rockwell Automation Inc. reported third quarter fiscal 2024 sales of $2,051 million, which represents an 8.4% decrease from $2,239 million in the same quarter of fiscal 2023. The decline in sales was attributed to an 8.4% decrease in organic sales, a 0.6% decrease due to currency translation, and a 0.6% increase from acquisitions.

Net Income and EPS

For the third quarter of fiscal 2024, Rockwell Automation Inc. reported a net income of $232 million, or $2.02 per share, compared to $400 million, or $3.45 per share, in the third quarter of fiscal 2023. The significant decrease in net income and diluted EPS was primarily due to lower sales volume and reduced pre-tax margin.

Adjusted EPS

Rockwell Automation Inc.'s adjusted EPS for the third quarter of fiscal 2024 was $2.71, down 10.0% from $3.01 in the same period last year. The decline in adjusted EPS was mainly driven by lower sales volume and a decrease in segment operating margin.

Operating Earnings

Total segment operating earnings for Rockwell Automation Inc. in the third quarter of fiscal 2024 were $427 million, a 9.8% decrease from $473 million in the third quarter of fiscal 2023. The segment operating margin slightly decreased to 20.8% from 21.1% a year ago, primarily due to lower sales volume and an unfavorable mix.

Cash Flow

Rockwell Automation Inc. generated $279 million in cash flow from operating activities in the third quarter of fiscal 2024, compared to $282 million in the same quarter of fiscal 2023. Free cash flow for the third quarter of fiscal 2024 was $238 million, slightly down from $240 million in the same period last year, mainly due to lower pre-tax income.
