Südzucker AG reported a significant decline in earnings for the fiscal year 2024/25, with consolidated revenues falling to EUR 9,694 million compared to EUR 10,289 million in the previous year. The Group's EBITDA decreased to EUR 723 million from EUR 1,318 million, and the operating result dropped to EUR 350 million from EUR 947 million. Despite challenges in several segments, the fruit division showed improvement, and the executive board proposed a reduced dividend for shareholders.

Reduced Dividend Proposal

The executive board and supervisory board of Südzucker AG have proposed lowering the dividend to EUR 0.20 per share for fiscal 2024/25, down from EUR 0.90 per share in the previous year. This proposal will be presented at the virtual annual general meeting scheduled for 17 July 2025.

Decline in Sugar Division

The sugar segment experienced a significant decline in operating results, falling to EUR –13 million from EUR 558 million the previous year. Revenues decreased to EUR 3,876 million due to sharp price drops and rising production costs, despite higher beet sugar production and increased volumes.

Fruit Segment Shows Improvement

The fruit segment saw a revenue increase to EUR 1,629 million, up from EUR 1,566 million last year. Operating results in this segment improved significantly to EUR 102 million, driven by higher margins in fruit preparations despite increased costs in fruit juice concentrates.

Overall Group Performance

Consolidated group revenues moderately decreased, and EBITDA saw a substantial drop. While the sugar, CropEnergies, and starch segments faced declines, the special products segment achieved a slight increase in operating results. The group has confirmed its forecast for the 2025/26 fiscal year, anticipating continued challenges due to market volatility and external factors such as the Ukraine war.
