iShares MSCI EM CTB Enhanced ESG ETF holds stocks from emerging-market companies that are in the MSCI Emerging Markets universe but removes firms with serious ESG issues—for example those involved in controversial/conventional or nuclear weapons, civilian firearms, thermal coal, tobacco, or unconventional oil and gas, as well as companies that violate the UN Global Compact or have severe ESG controversies. After those exclusions, the remaining emerging‑market equities are weighted by an optimisation that favors companies with higher ESG ratings and stronger decarbonisation profiles (to meet EU Climate Transition Benchmark standards) while keeping overall risk and tracking error close to the parent emerging‑markets index.
