Fidelity Index World Fund aims to replicate the MSCI World (Net Total Return) Index by holding the stocks that make up that index; it primarily invests directly in company shares but may not hold every index stock or each one at its exact index weight. To stay fully invested and keep trading costs down it also uses derivatives for exposure and holds liquidity funds to manage cash, so the portfolio is a passive, index-based mix of the companies represented in the MSCI World with occasional use of derivatives and cash-management instruments.
