The investment objective of the Fund is to seek to generate absolute returns for investors. There can be no assurance that the Fund will achieve its investment objective. The Fund seeks to achieve its investment objective by investing primarily in Small Cap European equities and equity related instruments of issuers that are incorporated, listed or have the focus of their operations in continental Europe, the Republic of Ireland and/orthe United Kingdom. The Fund intends to invest no more than 20% of its Net Asset Value in equities and equity related instruments of issuers that are listed outside of continental Europe, the Republic of Ireland and/or the United Kingdom. While the Fund may invest in non Small Cap equities, it is expected these will not exceed 20% of the Net Asset Value of the Fund. Investment in companies with a market capitalisation in excess of EUR 5 billion is not expected to exceed 10% of the Net Asset Value of the Fund. The Fund will use financial derivative instruments to take both “long” and “short” positions in companies the Sub-Investment Manager believes will either rise in value (long positions) or fall in value (short positions) meaning that the Fund may benefit from either scenario. As such the Fund will include long equity or equity related security holdings, short equity or equity related security holdings, options and exchange trade fund holdings. The Fund may take “long” exposure within the Fund may be up to 110% of the Funds’ net asset value. Alternatively, the Fund may take “short” exposure, with the view that the value of the underlying equity position will fall, thus, the Fund financially benefits from the fall in value of the equity). Short exposure provides the Fund with opportunities to make gains in negative or distressed marketing conditions. Short exposure (which may only be created synthetically, i.e. through the use of certain FDIs as described) may also be taken for hedging purposes in order to reduce the overall market exposure of the Fund. The target exposures of the Fund will typically be managed within minus 20% and plus 40% of the Net Asset Value. The gross exposure of the Fund will not exceed 200% of the Net Asset Value. The Fund may however have an exposure outside of the above targets at times. The FDI which may be used by the Fund are swaps, options and futures. The Fund may obtain short exposure only through the use of FDI. The Fund may use also utilise forwards for currency hedging purposes. The Fund may also invest in open-ended exchange-traded funds and open-ended collective investment schemes which provide exposure to equities and equity-related securities that are consistent with the investment policy of the Fund. The Fund may also invest in closed-ended CIS which may be treated as transferable securities for the purposes of the UCITS Regulations. The Fund may also invest up to 100% of the Fund’s Net Asset Value in cash, cash equivalents (including, but not limited to, cash deposits, commercial paper and certificates of deposit), money market funds (limited to 10% in aggregate of the Net Asset Value of the Fund) and money market instruments. The currency of the Fund is the EUR and your shares will be denominated in GBP. Your shares are non-distributing (i.e. any income arising from your shares will be included in their value). You may redeem your shares on demand on each banking day, which is a US and Irish banking day. Your shares will be hedged with the aim of protecting them from exchange rate fluctuations between their denominated currency and the currency of the Fund. The Fund is actively managed but not managed in reference to any benchmark index.
