Vanguard LifeStrategy 80% Equity Fund aims to grow your money and provide income by holding a diversified mix of around 80% shares and 20% bonds and other similar fixed income investments. It does this mainly by investing more than 90% of its assets in passive funds that track indices, rather than selecting individual securities itself, so the portfolio is built to give broad market exposure across many countries and asset classes. Through those underlying funds, it can hold UK and non-UK equities, including companies in emerging markets, as well as sterling-denominated bonds such as gilts, index-linked gilts and UK investment-grade corporate bonds, plus non-sterling bonds and money market instruments.
