About the show
What Your Bank doesn’t tell you is a new podcast series that ventures into the bank taboos and aims to empower everyday people on their financial journey. The old financial system is lacking in many significant ways and who better to talk about it than two ex-banking executives Luba Shoenig and Tonia Zimmermann.
Each one of us is a source of knowledge, to see the desired change in the world we have to take the incentive and use our resources. By asking difficult questions, Luba and Tonia will go beyond money and seek the true meaning of value.

Meet the hosts
Luba Schoenig holds a master's degree in economics from the University of Fribourg (2001) and a PhD in quantitative finance from the University of Zurich (2004). During her PhD studies, she worked as a research and teaching assistant at the Institute of Banking and Finance, University of Zurich with a focus on Corporate Finance, Capital Markets, Assets & Derivatives Pricing Models.
After working for Lehman Brothers as structurer & sales for structured products in Zurich, Luba joined the structured products team of Credit Suisse in 2006. From 2010 to 2014, Luba was responsible for UHNWI Investment Solutions for the Market Group Eastern Europe, Russia and Israel at Solution Partners Group, Credit Suisse.
In 2015, Luba joined Julius Baer to set up a specialist team for UHNWI services at Julius Baer with the responsibility for UHNWI investment solutions and structured credit.
Together with her partner Tonia Zimmermann, she founded UMushroom in 2020.
Tonia Zimmermann holds a master's degree in economics and finance from the University of St. Gallen (HSG). After graduation in 2003, she worked first for JPMorgan and later for Goldman Sachs in structuring/sales for derivatives in London. Following her trip around the world, Tonia moved back to Zurich and joined Credit Suisse in 2007. Initially, she was heading the Structured Products Platform team ensuring the selection, offering and life cycle management of structured products within the bank. Later, she moved to the mutual fund area heading the Mutual Fund & ETF Selection & Advisory team.
In 2016 she joined Premium Clients, the UHNWI unit of CS Schweiz AG heading the investment advisors, wealth consultants and sales management driving basic banking and balance sheet initiatives.
Already during her years in banking, Tonia started brainstorming with her business partner Luba Schoenig, how the world of investment advisory will evolve and from an idea came the foundation of UMushroom in 2020.
