Incorporated on 10 January 1966 from the erstwhile Metal Corporation of India, Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL) is headquartered at Yashad Bhawan, Udaipur, Rajasthan. A subsidiary of Vedanta Limited (which holds ~64.92% stake, with the Government of India holding ~35.08%), HZL is India's largest and the world's second largest zinc-lead miner and smelter. The company operates mines, smelters and power plants in Rajasthan, producing refined zinc and lead, silver, cadmium and sulphuric acid. It runs the world's largest zinc mine at Rampura Agucha. HZL also operates thermal captive power plants (505.5 MW), wind power plants (273.5 MW) and solar plants (40.42 MW).
