Revenue and EBITDA

IBU-tec advanced materials AG reported revenue of EUR 25.3 million for the first half of 2023, compared to EUR 29.5 million in the same period the previous year. The company's EBITDA for H1 2023 was EUR 2.9 million, down from EUR 3.7 million in H1 2022. Despite the decline, the EBITDA margin stood at 11.3 percent, surpassing the full-year target range of 10.4 to 10.6 percent.

Battery Business Growth

The battery business segment of IBU-tec advanced materials AG saw significant growth in the first half of 2023, with sales increasing by approximately 71 percent compared to the same period last year. This growth has strengthened the company's international market position and laid the groundwork for further business expansion. The company is also in advanced discussions with global partners for future collaborations in this sector.

Glass Coating Expansion

In the glass coating sector, IBU-tec advanced materials AG has laid the foundation for business expansion with a new production plant. This plant is expected to increase the production volume of the glass coating product MBTC to around 1,000 tons per year. Sales volume in this segment increased by more than 20 percent in the first half of 2023 compared to the same period last year, with further capacity increases expected by the end of the fiscal year.

Specialty Chemicals Division

IBU-tec advanced materials AG's specialty chemicals division was impacted by lower tin prices in the first half of 2023. However, the company managed to win new international generic manufacturers for its pharmaceutical precursor tributyltin chloride (TBTCl) to offset the planned loss of a major customer, Novartis. The company sees high potential for incoming orders in the second half of the year, particularly in the growing Asian market.

Full-Year and Medium-Term Outlook

IBU-tec advanced materials AG has confirmed its full-year forecast for 2023, expecting a strong second half of the year. The company also reaffirmed its medium-term targets as part of the IBU2025 strategy, aiming for sales of EUR 102 million to over EUR 130 million and an EBITDA margin of over 20 percent by 2025. CEO Jörg Leinenbach expressed confidence in achieving these targets, citing a noticeable revival in business development and promising agreements expected in the coming months.
